The Pune Grand Tour 2026, the country’s first international multi-stage cycling event inspired by the Tour de France, is set to make history from January 19 to 23, 2026, and all roads lead to Pune.

Recognized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), this landmark event marks India’s debut on the global cycling circuit, positioning the nation as an emerging hub for competitive and adventure cycling.

The five-day tour will take riders across 437 kilometers of breathtaking terrain, from the lush trails of Mulshi and Maval to the rolling countryside of Purandar and Baramati. Each of the four stages is designed to test endurance, celebrate the local landscape, and showcase Maharashtra’s diverse natural beauty.

• Stage 4 (99.15 km): Pune City — a vibrant sprint finish through urban roads.

Organized by District Pune, in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra, UCI, Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Cycling Association of Maharashtra (CAM), and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), the event enjoys strong institutional backing to ensure world-class standards.

Bajaj, India’s iconic automotive brand, serves as the title sponsor, highlighting the country’s growing commitment to cycling as both a sport and lifestyle movement.

At a review meeting held in Pune, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar reportedly directed authorities to ensure international-level infrastructure, including world-class roads, medical preparedness, and public safety for the race.

“The Pune Grand Tour is not just a cycling competition, it’s an opportunity to put Maharashtra on the global sporting map. We are committed to creating facilities that match international benchmarks,” Dr. Pulkundwar was quoted as saying in a Marathi news report.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi was also reported as saying that preparations are in full swing. “The event is already listed on UCI’s official race calendar. Around 50 countries are expected to participate, with several international cyclists already in contact with organizers,” he reportedly confirmed.
