Alaska Dome Train Ride With Panoramic Views

The Alaska Wilderness Express is a double-decker train with glass roofs, and honestly, the views are unreal.

We did a 4-hour journey from Denali to Talkeetna, and not once did I feel bored. Pine forests, open land, snow-covered mountains-everything just kept passing by slowly, like a movie playing outside the window.

There was a live host on the train who kept explaining what we were seeing and sharing small stories about the places along the way. It actually made the journey more interesting and connected. Somewhere in between, we crossed the highest point on the Alaska Railroad-2,363 feet-right through Denali National Park.

The train itself was very comfortable. There’s an elevator to go up to the glass-dome deck, a café, and even a restaurant. My favorite spot was the open-air viewing platform. Standing there, feeling the cold air and watching Alaska pass by-that’s when it really hit me where I was.

The glass roof is so clear that it feels like there’s no roof at all. Those 4 hours went by so fast, it honestly felt like a dream.

If you enjoy scenic train journeys, there’s a similar experience through the Canadian Rockies in Canada as well.
